OCT angiography in detecting preclinical diabetic retinopathy

چکیده
The invention of OCT angiography (OCTA) was a milestone in studying the early stages diabetic retinopathy (DR). latest findings show significant changes foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters (FAZ area, FAZ perimeter, acirculatory index, axis ratio, angle) diabetes mellitus patients with no ophthalmoscopic signs DR. Many studies evaluate vessel density superficial and deep plexuses these using different methods image processing qualitative quantitative parameters. Nonperfusion areas (NA) are very important at preclinical stage DR, which can be detected layers. With OCT-A it is possible not only to reveal them but also calculate their area. Vascular tortuosity (VT) described earlier fundus photography. Nowadays VT assessed microcirculation level scans. Microaneurysms earliest clinical sign They missed photos, easily OCT-A. aim current review analyze DR discuss future diagnostic value

Diabetic retinopathy and OCT angiography: clinical findings and future perspectives
In diabetic retinopathy (DR), macular involvement can present as either macular edema or ischemia. Fluorescein angiography remains the gold standard in the evaluation of retinal vascular perfusion and diagnosis of macular ischemia. However, it is a costly, time-consuming technique, it requires venipuncture, and reports of anaphylaxis and death related to fluorescein injections have been documen...
متن کاملParafoveal OCT Angiography Features in Diabetic Patients without Clinical Diabetic Retinopathy: A Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis
PURPOSE To evaluate the capacity of OCT angiography (OCTA) for detecting infraclinical lesions in parafoveal capillaries in diabetic patients without diabetic retinopathy (DR). METHODS This prospective observational cross-sectional case-control study analyzed the superficial and deep capillary plexuses (SCP and DCP) on macular OCTA scans (3 × 3 mm) centered on the fovea. We compared 22 diabet...

Objective To investigate the manifestation characteristics of fundus fluorescence angiography (FFA) and its values in diagnosing diabetic retinopathy through comparing direct ophthalmoscopy. Methods Two hundred fifty patients (500 eyes) who were suspected as diabetic retinopathy and admitted to the hospital between February 2015 and December 2016 were selected. They underwent direct ophthalmo...

PURPOSE To compare diagnostic effectiveness and sensitivity of the two methods of screening for diabetic retinopathy. METHODS Prospective analytic study comparing diabetic retinopathy grading obtained from clinical slit lamp biomicroscopy and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA). A total of 189 consecutive patients were examined in the ophthalmology department at Jordan University Hospital. ...
متن کاملEarly Detection of Diabetic Retinopathy in Fluorescent Angiography Retinal Images Using Image Processing Methods
Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the single largest cause of sight loss and blindness in the working age population of Western countries; it is the most common cause of blindness in adults between 20 and 60 years of age. Early diagnosis of DR is critical for preventing vision loss so early detection of microaneurysms (MAs) as the first signs of DR is important. This paper addresses th...
